Vacation Scheme

The application window for this year’s scheme closed on 28 April 2022. We are looking forward to opening the next cycle and we will update this page once there is further information regarding the 2023 vacation scheme. 

Hunters’ vacation scheme provides successful applicants with an opportunity to experience life at a top London law firm. The scheme runs across two separate weeks, taking on four participants each week.

The successful applicants will spend time within four departments, namely: Property, Family, Private Client and Business Services learning about the work the lawyers in each team undertake, the clients we advise, and how each team interacts with the others.

We accept applications from current final year undergraduates who are on track to obtain a 2:1 in their degree (in any discipline), and graduates with any level of professional experience at any stage in their lives and careers, provided that they have obtained at least a 2:1 in their degree (in any discipline).  Extenuating circumstances to explain academic performance at a lesser level will be considered.

Each one-week placement will include:

  • Opportunities to speak to our Trainee Solicitors, Associates and Partners
  • Departmental talks to learn more about the firm, our work and clients
  • Talks from business support staff, including risk and compliance, finance and marketing
  • Practical work experience in at least four departments.
  • Training from an internationally-recognised business and communication expert to improve client communication, presentation skills and interview techniques

The vacation scheme has been designed to give the very best experience we can provide to our participants.

Performance during the vacation scheme will be considered should an individual subsequently apply for our Training Contract.

We will provide an allowance of £325 per week to help cover travel and/or accommodation costs. The dress code for the week will be smart casual.

How to apply


Our online platform will ask that you submit an anonymised CV. You will also be asked to submit a covering letter which should be limited to 2 pages of A4. The covering letter should explain why you would like to participate in the vacation scheme at Hunters, demonstrate your commitment to a legal career including by reference to any relevant work experience, and highlight what you believe you can contribute to the firm during the scheme. We ask that you copy and paste your covering letter into the personal summary box.  Please do not sign your name at the end of your cover letter text in the personal summary box.  Please also upload your anonymised CV as a document.
