Hunters combines top-class legal advice with exceptional personal service for our clients. We are consistently ranked as one of London’s top firms, serving a client base of private individuals, trusts, landed estates, businesses, and charities and providing them with a holistic legal service. Situated in the heart of legal London in Lincoln’s Inn, we are an established, forward-looking firm with a welcoming and inclusive culture.
We held an online open evening on Wednesday 9th June at 6pm (lasting an hour) for those interested in applying for a training contract with us commencing in September 2022. Attendees had the opportunity to hear from Mary Elliott and Henry Hood, who manage our trainee recruitment process, as well as from some of our current trainees and lawyers.

Training with Hunters is an opportunity to work alongside top-ranked lawyers in a friendly and supportive environment. Trainees work closely with Partners and Associates on all aspects of their cases and are encouraged to have regular contact with clients. Our open-door policy and small intake mean our trainees are supported in taking on greater responsibility with confidence.
Every trainee is assigned a training supervisor, a partner who will support them throughout their training contract, as well as departmental supervisors who guide them in each seat. A buddy system between first and second year trainees offers another level of support. Ensuring our trainees have high quality training is an investment in the firm’s future and we are committed to enabling all trainees to maximise their potential.
During their two-year training contract trainees spend six months in four seats: Private Client, Family, Property and a combined seat in Dispute Resolution and Business Services. As well as providing a thorough grounding in each area of law, trainees will also learn how these areas interact and the importance of cross-departmental collaboration, offering a firm foundation for future practice in any of these specialisms.
We offer a competitive salary for trainees in line with similar London firms.
You can meet our current trainees and read about their experiences here.
Regular firm-wide opportunities for socialising with colleagues include our book club, film club and yoga sessions. Social events include wine and cheese evenings, quizzes and other gatherings, and in the summer months there are frequent impromptu lunches in the square in Lincoln’s Inn Fields. Each year we have a team join the London Legal Walk for the Legal Support Trust and hold fund-raising events to support local charities. Trainees are encouraged to join committees and contribute ideas to expand Hunters’ social calendar.
We are looking for talented trainees committed to a career in the areas of law in which we specialise – we see our trainees as potential partners of the future. We welcome applicants who are bright, friendly and enthusiastic, with excellent communication skills and an ability to engage with the human as well as the legal aspects of our work. Our clients are largely individuals, meaning an interest in working with people and helping them find solutions is crucial. We value openness of mind and willingness to learn.
Our minimum academic requirements are an upper second class degree unless there are exceptional circumstances.
Hunters is committed to creating a diverse workplace where everyone is valued for the unique contribution they can make to the firm. We know that the firm benefits from the variety of perspectives and experiences of our staff and are proud to be an equal opportunities employer.
To ensure applicants are considered on their merits, all applications will be anonymised prior to review.
