Buying your freehold
If you own a long-leasehold property, you could have the right to buy the freehold (a process known as ‘enfranchisement’). That can also apply to groups of owners in a block where they all hold long-leasehold flats.
Even though there are rights involved, it’s not a simple or inevitable process. We advise on:
- Working out if you’re eligible
- Instructing valuers and surveyors
- Financing
- Participation agreements
- Statutory notices
- Tribunal attendance
- After enfranchisement, creating new long leases for applicable flats.
We also advise freeholders, intermediate landlords, RTM companies and management companies on their rights and responsibilities throughout.
