Extending your lease
We act for many homeowners who want to extend their lease.
Sometimes that’s under statutory procedures in Acts of 1967, 1993 and 2002, whereas other times rights under the Acts don’t apply (especially for the Crown Estate) and the landlord is prepared to grant an extension outside the formalities of the Acts.
We’ll help you understand if you’re eligible and choose a valuation surveyor and will manage all the necessary notices. We’ll also work closely with our litigation and dispute resolution team – especially if we need to attend the tribunal. At the end of (and often during) the process, we’ll draft or amend the lease extension document, and manage the stamp duty, registration and mortgage formalities.
Many freeholders, intermediate landlords, RTM companies and management companies also use as independent advisers to understand their rights and responsibilities.
