Associate Solicitor – Charities & Safeguarding Team

We are looking for a highly experienced Charities Lawyer to join our team. The successful candidate will have a minimum of four years’ PQE, preferably with a commercial law background. You will be responsible for providing legal advice and solutions to charities, not-for-profits, and educational institutions on a range of matters, including:
- Formation and incorporation of charities
- Mergers, collaborations, and joint ventures
- Advising senior management teams, boards of governors, and trustees
- Drafting and reviewing commercial contracts and agreements
- Advising on data protection and wider charity law and education-related matters
Job responsibilities
- Advise on charity formation, mergers, collaborations, and joint ventures
- Counsel senior management teams, boards, and trustees on governance and legal matters
- Draft and review commercial contracts and agreements related to fundraising
- Provide guidance on data protection, charity law, and education-related issues
- Partner with the Head of Charities to deliver the department’s strategy and improve processes
- Develop a specialised area of expertise within the Charities/Not-for-Profit sector
- Stay up-to-date on legal developments and share insights with the Charities Group
- Translate legal changes into practical solutions for clients.
Skills and qualifications
- Qualified lawyer with 4+ years PQE (preferably with a commercial law background)
- Proven experience in all aspects of charities law
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build strong relationships and influence at all levels
- Client-focused with a solutions-oriented approach
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
