First registration
Whether or not money changes hands, there’s compulsory first registration for all land transactions.
It can be of benefit to pre-empt a compulsory registration by voluntarily applying in advance. That’s because there’s no time constraint, and a more measured approach – particularly with large blocks of land – can lead to a better result.
There are other good reasons to voluntarily register land now. For one, the Land Registry has to formally notify landowners of any attempt to register squatters’ rights, so you can lodge an objection.
We have substantial experience of registering the full range of land holding from small cottages to facilitating sales of large estates with multiple ownership.
