Senior Partner

The partners of Hunters Law LLP are delighted to announce that Henry Hood has been elected as the firm’s Senior Partner, with effect from 1 January 2022. Henry succeeds Paul Almy, who has fulfilled the role of Senior Partner since April 2011.

Henry joined Hunters as an articled clerk in 1985 and gained initial experience in commercial litigation before becoming the firm’s sole family lawyer. Henry became a partner of the firm in 1991 and by introducing both partners and junior talent created one of London’s leading family law teams.

Henry specialises in high value financial claims in divorce, with his recent clients including Peter Phillips, the Queen’s grandson. Henry is also an experienced advisor on pre-marital wealth protection and sensitive children matters. Henry has long been highly ranked by The Legal 500 and Chambers HNW and is an accredited Resolution specialist in advanced financial provision and private children law. He is an accredited mediator, a collaborative lawyer and a family arbitrator.

Henry’s success was recognised this year when he was named as ‘Family Law Partner of the Year’ at the prestigious 2021 Family Law Awards. As one barrister supporting his nomination explained: Henry’s combination of technical ability and strategic nous with outstanding client management skill sets him apart, while also reflecting the ethos of the team that he leads at Hunters.

Henry said of his appointment: I am incredibly honoured to be appointed Senior Partner at the firm where I trained to become a solicitor. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the firm through the next stage in its history, one which I could never have foreseen back in my days as an articled clerk.

I would like to thank Paul on behalf of the entire partnership for his remarkable leadership over the past 11 years as first Managing and then Senior Partner. He has transformed the firm, and its welfare, and those working in it have been his abiding concern throughout that period.

Hunters has always contained excellent lawyers, completely dedicated to the welfare of their clients, and that remains true today. In my new role, I am fully committed to the agreed strategic direction of Hunters in preparing for the challenges of the future. One of my priorities will be ensuring that the firm is a welcoming and inclusive home for all clients, lawyers and staff, committed to recruiting, retaining and promoting talent from diverse backgrounds.

Arif Kamal, Chief Finance and Operations Officer at Hunters, said: Henry’s leadership of the Family team is charismatic, passionate and open-minded, and reflects his commitment to holistic advice achieved through cross-departmental collaboration, making him an excellent fit for the Senior Partner role.
