Jo Carr-West is a Partner in the Family & Relationships department at Hunters, specialising in the complex financial aspects of divorce proceedings. She also sits on the firm’s management committee.
Known for her creative and solutions-focused approach, Jo has extensive experience dealing with various issues relating to divorce, including inherited wealth, trust interests and businesses. She regularly advises on wealth protection prior to marriage including pre-nuptial agreements, as well as on claims arising between cohabiting couples.
Jo also advises clients on arrangements for children, including in cases of domestic abuse where safeguarding measures are required and has particular expertise in cases involving children with specific needs, including ASD and ADHD.
Jo advocates for non-court dispute resolution (NCDR). She is a mediator and a trained collaborative lawyer. She is also a successful litigator when court involvement is needed.
Jo is recognised as a ‘Top Recommended’ family lawyer for high net worth individuals in the Spear’s 500 Legal Index. The Legal 500 (2024) describes her as an “excellent family lawyer and mediator” with “combined professionalism, knowledge, experience, sensitivities to our own situation, objectivity, balance and fairness”. Jo joined Hunters on qualification in 2004, becoming a partner in 2016. She is an active member of Resolution, and in 2022 was appointed Chair of Resolution’s Property, Tax and Financial Remedy Committee.
