Black History Month 2023 at Hunters

Black History Month is a time to reflect on the immense contributions of black individuals to our society and to celebrate the progress we have made in promoting diversity and inclusion.
This year's theme was ‘Saluting our Sisters’ and highlighted the central role that black women have played in our society.
The office was adorned with posters of black women pioneers, we took part in an unconscious bias training and discussion and our book club read Alexandra Wilson’s ‘In Black and White’. For the showstopper event, Hunters was hugely honoured to welcome Barbara Mills KC to the firm to speak.
Barbara is a real trailblazer and we were privileged that she chose to share her own experiences and perspectives with us and to celebrate the success of many other black women, both in the legal profession and otherwise.
Barbara’s talk was a profound reminder that we must continue to strive for a more equitable legal profession, one that reflects the rich tapestry of our society and the diversity of thought that drives innovation and progress. Her words resonated with each person from Hunters who attended the event.

Following the events of the month, all of us will no doubt continue to reflect on what we, as individuals and as a firm, can do to help build a more diverse and inclusive environment.
