Why private client advisers should care about Joseph Safra’s will

In 2021, Alberto Safra, the late Joseph Safra’s son, filed a lawsuit alleging that his family had exerted undue influence on his father in 2019, who the lawsuit claims was cognitively impaired at the time, to reduce his inheritance.

The figures disputed in this litigation far eclipse most contested inheritance cases with a proposed agreement which was almost reached in 2021 to avoid litigation valued at $15 billion.
