Francesca McCay joined Hunters in March 2026 as an Associate in the Family & Relationships Department.

Francesca advises on all aspects of family law, including divorce, financial settlements, nuptial agreements, injunctive proceedings and matters involving children. She is experienced in acting for a wide range of clients, including high-net-worth and high-profile individuals such as musicians and athletes, as well as other professionals including entrepreneurs, doctors, lawyers, accountants, teachers and home-makers.

She specialises in all areas of matrimonial finance and regularly deals with complex issues concerning maintenance provisions, capital, property transfers, business interests and pensions. Francesca also has experience advising unmarried clients on cohabitation matters and Schedule 1 Children Act applications.

Francesca also advises on private children law, including living and contact arrangements, and specific issues such as relocation, education and medical treatment.

With four years’ post-qualification experience, Francesca qualified in September 2021. She studied Law (LLB) at Nottingham Trent University, graduating in 2017, and completed the LPC with LLM with Distinction.

Known for her personable and empathetic approach, Francesca takes time to listen to her clients’ concerns and priorities from the outset, tailoring her advice carefully to the needs of each case. Her tenacious and creative mindset enables her to find practical and innovative solutions, often exploring routes outside the traditional court process. As a member of Resolution, she is committed to resolving matters constructively wherever possible and has extensive experience of arbitration and private FDR processes.

Outside of work, Francesca enjoys football and is a season ticket holder at Crystal Palace Football Club.
