Stephen has been advising businesses since 1978.  After working in industry, he became a partner with a boutique international trade firm in the City where he worked for over 20  years before joining Hunters as a partner in 2011.

He has a broad practice, advising companies, partnerships and entrepreneurs on business structures, governance and all commercial aspects of their business.  Stephen is very interested in the structure and dynamics of closely-held and family businesses and not for profit organisations in which commercial issues, personal relationships and cultural differences are inextricably linked and need to be addressed together.  He advises on complex articles of association and other constitutional documents, shareholders agreements and partnership agreements, buying and selling businesses, finance and security transactions, commercial contracts and employment law.  He is actively engaged with Hunters’ landed estates and private client practices and advises on farming partnerships and family business structures.

Stephen has particular expertise in cross-border transactions and advises overseas companies on inward investment, international contracting and business activities in England and Wales.  He is fluent in German, having studied and worked there over many years, and speaks French.
