After studying Politics and Psychology at Durham University, Lara qualified as a solicitor in 2002, having trained with Dawsons. She joined Hunters in 2004 and became a partner in 2009.

Lara is a private client lawyer who has substantial experience of advising in relation to wills, trusts, powers of attorney, Court of Protection matters, probate and estate administration, including complex areas of expertise and cross-border matters. Her work has a particular focus on older client law issues, providing legal assistance to older and vulnerable people, and in addition, she has an interest in art and cultural heritage law. Her work also involves supervising other members of the Private Client team in relation to the full range of private client work, including probate.

She acts as trustee for a number of family and charitable trusts, and in 2015 was appointed a trustee of The Samuel Courtauld Trust, which owns the paintings and other works of art of The Courtauld Gallery in London.
