Hunters advises Portosalvo on the sale of Platform Supply Vessel “Gargano”

Hunters advised Portosalvo Limited, part of the Rimorchiatori Napoletani Group – a Naples-based supplier of marine services operating a fleet of offshore and open sea vessels – on the sale of its platform supply vessel Gargano to Fugro, the Netherlands-based global leader in geotechnical, geophysical and survey services.
The transaction marks a key strategic milestone for Portosalvo and reflects sustained interest in reliable, well-maintained marine assets with proven service records. Gargano, commissioned as a newbuild in 2002, had been a core part of the Rimorchiatori Napoletani fleet for over two decades.
During that time, the vessel was deployed exclusively in the North Sea and operated under the technical management of Tidewater Inc [NYSE: TDW], one of the world’s largest offshore support vessel operators. Since 2007, Gargano had been on long-term charter to Fugro working as a Geotech services support vessel. Both Tidewater and Portosalvo are valued, long-standing clients of Hunters, and the firm is proud to continue supporting their evolving commercial objectives.
Following the acquisition, the vessel will be renamed Fugro Revelation and represents an expansion of Fugro’s specialist fleet.
Hunters provided end-to-end legal support to Portosalvo throughout the transaction. This included advice on contract negotiations, registration issues, and coordination with international counsel, counterparties, and technical stakeholders. The transaction team was led by corporate Partner David Wilson, with support from Associate Giorgio Pizzetti.
David Wilson commented: “It was a pleasure to advise our long-standing client Portosalvo on this matter. Our extensive experience in this sector enabled us to deliver strategic legal advice on a broad spectrum of issues that arose throughout the transaction.”
