Environmental impact and sustainability
We’re committed to measuring, monitoring and reducing our environmental impact in line with the emissions target set out by the Net Zero Law Protocol.
We target a 30% reduction in Scope 3 emissions within five years; a 50% reduction of Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030; and a 90% reduction in Scope 1, 2 and 3* emissions by 2050.
This work is led by our Net Zero Committee, a team of colleagues across the firm formed in January 2024.
Our initial projects involve:
- Calculating the carbon profile of our firm, with an annual carbon footprint report to be published from 2025
- Changing our energy supplier to a 100% renewable source
- Sharing knowledge amongst colleagues as to effective and sustainable practices that can be followed both in and outside of work. We also seek to communicate the broader importance and context of environmental issues
- Increasing our office recycling initiatives
- Introducing significantly more plants into our office space
- Developing additional initiatives to help us to meet our environmental goals.
* Scope 1: Direct emissions from sources that a company owns or controls; Scope 2: Indirect emissions from the generation of purchased energy; Scope 3: Indirect emissions that occur in a company’s value chain, including upstream and downstream emissions. This includes emissions from the purchase, use and disposal of products from suppliers.
