Congratulations to Jan Walker’s daughter for winning a silver medal in the Badminton Team event

The partners and staff at Hunters were caught up in the excitement of Glasgow 2014 as we followed the progress of the UK teams in the various sporting events. In particular, we were cheering on Sarah Walker (who is the daughter of Jan Walker, secretary to Graham Ogilvie and Matthew Yates) as she competed for Team England in the badminton events. Sarah was hoping to emulate her success in winning the English National Badminton Championships earlier this year, and took part in the Women’s singles event and the Team event in Glasgow.

We were delighted to see Sarah’s hard work pay off as she won a silver medal as part of the Badminton Team event.

Jan, who has worked for Hunters for 18 years, watched all of Sarah’s matches in Glasgow, and said that, “although it was nerve racking, hard work, exciting and emotional taking part in the Commonwealth Games it was a privilege and such an awesome and amazing experience for her”. We imagine Jan and her husband also had the same emotions watching their daughter compete!

Well done to Sarah and to the rest of the Badminton team for a sterling effort and fantastic achievement.
