Senior Associate Solicitor - Family & Relationships

As a Senior Associate Solicitor in our Family & Relationships department, you will play a key role in advising on a broad range of family law matters, with a particular focus on complex financial remedy work. You will work closely with the Partners in the department and collaborate with colleagues across the firm to deliver high-quality legal advice and exceptional client service.

This role is ideal for a solicitor with five or more years’ post-qualification experience (PQE), who is commercially minded, solutions-focused, and eager to contribute to a high-performing, award-winning team. You will be expected to liaise directly with clients, counsel and other professionals, and to maintain a high standard of accuracy and professionalism in all aspects of your work.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in both financial and children matters, with a particular emphasis on finance. You will be comfortable handling complex, high-net-worth disputes and will be confident in both litigation and non-court dispute resolution methods. You will also be expected to contribute to the development of junior colleagues and support the team’s business development initiatives.

Job responsibilities

  • Advise on a variety of family law matters, including financial remedy and private children disputes
  • Prepare legal documents including Forms E, Questionnaires, ES1/ES2, witness statements, draft orders, and instructions to experts
  • Attend court hearings, FDRs, and interim applications, and liaise with counsel as required
  • Provide strategic guidance to clients on risks, options, and dispute resolution strategies
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive case files and time records
  • Invoice clients and manage billing in line with firm procedures
  • Mentor junior colleagues and contribute to their professional development
  • Participate in marketing and business development activities, including writing articles, attending seminars, and contributing to podcasts
  • Ensure compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct and relevant professional standards.

Skills and qualifications

  • Qualified solicitor with 5+ years’ PQE experience in family law
  • Strong expertise in financial remedy work and contested family law proceedings
  • Excellent analytical, drafting, and communication skills
  • Commercially aware and able to build trusted relationships with clients
  • Confident in managing complex legal issues and providing clear, practical advice
  • Proactive, collaborative, and comfortable working independently or as part of a team
  • High level of numeracy and familiarity with family law software (e.g. Capitalise, Quantum)
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and innovation.
